Summary

The Retail Buyer is responsible for driving the revenue and profitability of our retail businesses through setting and executing market-specific assortment strategies including procuring quality products available at wholesale, prices, and promotions-that help create a positive patient/customer experience. This position requires extensive market research as well as a deep understanding of cannabis product quality. The role also requires strong skills in negotiating pricing, relationship management, inventory management, and budget management.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the complete assortment lifecycle, including innovation, vendor meetings, costing negotiations, sales analyses, promotional calendars, and product exit strategies
  • Cultivate strong relationships with cannabis product suppliers to ensure consistent access to products
  • Establish and maintain a reputation of credibility and responsiveness in the marketplace
  • Monitor the market through competitor pricing, promotional activities, and product launches
  • Allocate internally produced products from our manufacturing site to our stores
  • Order products and authorize payments
  • Manage inventory, including current stock and new deliveries
  • Ensure the accuracy of purchase orders
  • Research possible item selections
  • Craft purchase order and inventory reports for management
  • Solve supply chain problems
  • Work within the management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned orders
  • Develop an effective and accurate system for monitoring purchase orders
  • Conduct audits of purchasing and allocation processes to identify areas for improvement
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of a specific sectors needs
  • Must be able to obtain a state medical marijuana badge and pass a background check
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Must perform under high pressure situations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high stress situations
  • Self-Motivated
  • Ability to multitask
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to stay focused
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic. Must be a team player with a can do attitude
  • Available to work weekends and holidays as needed

  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. The ability to sit or stand for up to 12 hours at a time. Lifting, standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, push/pull, repetitive use of hands, grasping use of hands, visual activity


Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred
  • 4+ years in retail buying and planning
  • Experience managing external relationships
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure when needed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft
