Job Description:
This position will spearhead research initiatives focused on developing innovative approaches to collect, preserve, analyze, and present digital evidence from diverse IoT devices and networks. The incumbent will leave collaborative research projects, mentor junior researchers, and work closely with industry partners and government agencies to address real-world challenges in IoT security and forensics. This position requires deep technical knowledge of IoT architectures, forensic methodologies, and the ability to translate complex research findings into practical solutions and actionable insights.
35%Design and conduct original research in IoT forensics methodologies and tools.
15%Write research proposals and secure funding from government agencies and industry partners.
15% Analyze IoT device architectures and develop forensic acquisition techniques.
10%Author technical papers, reports, and presentations for conferences and journals. Present research findings at conferences and participate in technical committees.
10% Mentor and supervise junior researchers, postdocs, and graduate students.
5% Collaborate with law enforcement and industry partners on real-world forensic challenges.
5%Review literature and stay current with emerging IoT technologies and forensic techniques.
5% Contribute to patent applications and intellectual property development. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Ph. D in Computer Science, Digital Forensic, Cybersecurity, or related field and 5 years of experience. Doctoral experience focusing on digital forensics, IoT security, or related areas. Proven track record of high-impact publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, demonstrated ability to secure research funding, and experience leafing multi-disciplinary research teams. Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C/C++, and familiarity with IoT protocols, embedded systems, and cloud architectures are essential. Experience with forensic tools, reverse engineering, and memory analysis techniques is highly valued.
