3 days per week on site - Greater Boston Area
Salary $165,000 - $215,000 per year

Our client is seeking a Director of Automation to lead the strategy, design, and execution of enterprise automation initiatives across business and technology teams. This role sits within a transformation-focused technology organization and is responsible for driving value through AI, machine learning, and automation to improve customer experience, operational efficiency, and internal processes.

Job Description:

  • Lead the identification, mapping, and analysis of business processes to uncover inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and automation opportunities
  • Evaluate and recommend the most effective automation solutions through a structured intake process, considering the broader enterprise ecosystem (RPA, APIs, AI, CRM, and UI platforms)
  • Apply deep knowledge of AI-driven automation tools and techniques to deliver scalable solutions
  • Quantify and track the impact of automation initiatives across productivity, capacity creation, time-to-market, quality, and cost savings
  • Establish and promote automation design, development, and governance best practices
  • Build, manage, and prioritize an enterprise automation pipeline in partnership with RPA development teams
  • Define, monitor, and enforce program KPIs and SLAs, taking corrective action when performance deviates from expectations
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to share best practices and continuously improve automation outcomes
  • Perform cost/benefit analysis, risk assessments, and solution feasibility evaluations
  • Govern automation requirements and drive end-to-end solution delivery across multiple technology platforms
  • Analyze and design technical architectures prior to automation to ensure optimal and sustainable solutions
  • Partner with internal departments to understand business needs and deliver solutions that create measurable value
  • Assess existing business and technical solutions and implement automations to enhance effectiveness
  • Document automation designs, including technical specifications and current- and future-state process diagrams
  • Review and optimize automation code to improve performance, reliability, and maintainability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to production RPA processes
  • Conduct training sessions for end users and technical team members
  • Stay current with emerging automation technologies, including agentic AI and next-generation tools
  • Perform additional duties as required to support enterprise transformation initiatives
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 10+ years of experience working with enterprise IT systems or architecture, including automation design and delivery
  • Proven experience with AI, machine learning, and intelligent automation technologies
  • Demonstrated success developing and deploying AI-powered automation strategies that deliver business results
  • Strong ability to bridge technical and non-technical teams and clearly communicate complex concepts
  • Experience leading or supporting functional testing teams, ideally within financial services or regulated environments
  • Background in financial services, including commercial, consumer, or digital banking, strongly preferred
  • Experience delivering cross-functional, enterprise-scale initiatives
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Strong analytical, communication, facilitation, and organizational skills
  • Solid understanding of SDLC principles, APIs, and modern development practices
  • Advanced proficiency with business and delivery tools such as MS Office, Visio, Azure DevOps, Salesforce, Copado, and Jira
  • UiPath Solution Architect certification preferred but not required
